This young woman is an Activist Poet and Speaker and she was a host at the SCBWI conference. She had a way and rhythm with words, I’m glad she found her niche. I loved her hair and I enjoyed painting it in watercolor.
This was actually my first in the series of paintings about Clouds. As I’ve stated before, clouds often show God’s Presence to me, His hidden mystery, His holiness and power. In His Word, the Lord often covered Himself with a cloud, especially when He came to speak to and meet with people on earth, as well as lead His people the Israelites, out of Egypt, by leading them out by a pillar of cloud.
I’ve decided to paint in miniature. I received a small gift from my Mother, who knows I have a heart for small things, and it was a small parcel of the smallest canvases I have ever seen!
I love the modern movement (thus far) of living simply and having less. But even minimalists can have art and I going to paint a series on one my my favorite themes, clouds.
I decided to paint this series in acrylic, based off photographs I took.
When the clouds are purple, they often look like mountains.
I’ve learned a lot with painting this series of clouds, such as seeing how many colors they contain and radiate and reflect which makes it a joy and challenge to paint them. And because of so many colors, I like to paint quickly and use a lot of brushstrokes. For all of these paintings I’ve used acrylic paint.
This piece is small, also painted in acrylic. I enjoy walking outside at different times of the day and like to see how God is painting His canvas, the sky. I especially like how the sky is framed by trees and nature towards evening and night, which inspired this piece. I’ve always been a fan of how negative space is carved and “cut out” so to speak by positive space, especially when it’s organically made.
These are a series of sketches I did in pen and ink and watercolor for last year’s October challenge entitled, “Inktober,” which is an artist’s personal challenge to create an ink drawing for all 31 days of October. They encourage a theme, so I decided my theme would be flowers and herbs. The great part at the end of this was I became really comfort using pen and ink, a medium I often was hesitant and shaky to use, simply because I can’t paint over mistakes.
One of the very best herbs….
